If you have dehydrated skin this foundation could be for you!

I tried the Ilia True Skin Serum Foundation over a couple of days and was highly impressed. This foundation is oil based but made with oils that often work well on oily skin and once set with powder I didn’t find it slipped or separated on my oily areas (my nose) so it may work well on oily skin too. I had never tried an oil based foundation before as I had this concept in my head that it would clog my pores and cause issues. I use facial oils so I don’t know why I had this pre-conceived notion. Maybe because so many people out there have oily skin so don’t recommend oil based foundations? I had no issues with it causing break outs, in face my skin looked healthier, more supple and glowier when I removed it than I have seen with any other foundation! Because it was oil based my skin wasn’t able to suck the moisture out of it and leave it looking dry.

It is a light coverage but by using a powder foundation to set it I was able to build it up to a light medium coverage. It photographed like a dream, my skin looked flawless! It wore well through the day with only minimal fading (it was set, so I would expect to see it fade much faster if unset). Being oil based I didn’t try wearing it unset as I don’t like my foundation to transfer and it didn’t set down on it’s own. I would recommend setting it lightly because of this. It truly looked like my skin, but better.

The Ilia True Skin Serum Foundation has a gorgeous luminous, dewy finish and worked very well on my dehydrated and slightly dry skin. I picked up a tester from Mecca Cosmetica in Auckland and will be purchasing a full size bottle as it looks so stunning! I can easily see this becoming my go to foundation for day wear although it doesn’t have quite enough coverage for a glam evening look. I love that this foundation has such a strong skincare base as it makes it perfect for everyday wear without feeling guilty about what you are putting on your skin. It is also vegan, cruelty free and has no synthetic fragrances so is basically a guilt free foundation!

If you want something luminous, glowy and of a light/medium coverage for dehydrated and/or dry skin I would recommend trying this foundation out. Grab a tester, or ask for a full face of foundation to see how it wears through the day because everyone’s skin is different.

I’d love to hear of your experience with this foundation. Did you see improvements in your skin from wearing it as your daily foundation?
